Every BARE product is handmade in small batches in Pakistan. This page explains how to use our products safely, what is in them, and what our product descriptions do and do not mean.
Six things to know before you use anything
Cosmetics, not medicine
Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition.
Patch test first
Inner forearm, 24 to 48 hours, before every new product.
External use only
Keep away from eyes, mouth and broken skin. Do not swallow.
Read the ingredients
Especially if you have allergies to meat, nuts or essential oils.
Stop if it stings
Rinse with cool water and stop using it if your skin reacts.
Away from children
Store out of reach. Ask a doctor before using on babies.

Tallow Lotion
Water-basedHalal grass-fed tallow, distilled water, glycerine, jojoba oil, jasmine essential oil, Optiphen (preservative).
Frankincense Face Cream
Water-freeContains tallow and frankincense essential oil. Full list on the label.
Almond & Vanilla Body Butter

Sun Balm
Water-freeContains tallow. Full list on the label.
All our products contain animal-derived tallow. Essential oils can irritate sensitive skin, even in small amounts.
Check with a doctor first if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a diagnosed skin condition or broken skin, have known allergies (including meat allergies such as alpha-gal syndrome, nuts, lanolin or essential oils), or want to use a product on a baby or young child.
Formulas & storage
Water-free
No water and no added preservative. Use clean, dry fingers, keep the lid closed and keep them out of the shower and away from steam.
Water-based, preserved
Anything made with water can grow bacteria and mould, so it is preserved with Optiphen. Keep the pump clean and never add water to the bottle.
- Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
- Tallow softens in heat and firms up in cold. Small white specks or a grainy feel can appear in balms and butters after temperature changes. This is normal for natural fats.
- Use each product within the period shown on its label.
If a product changes smell, colour or texture slightly that is fine unless it starts giving rancid smell or feel, if it grows anything visible, or looks contaminated, stop using it and throw it away.
Sun Balm is not your commercial sunscreen
It has not been SPF-tested and has no SPF rating. It is made with tallow, tallow is known to have an SPF of its own - that is why we regard it as a sun protection balm - we also think that the sun is not all that bad - so give your skin a 15 minute sun peek!
For time in the sun, be vary of other protection gear wear protective clothing and stay in the shade. Do not use on babies under 6 months old without a doctor's advice.
What to do
- Stop using the product straight away and rinse the area with cool water.
- If it gets in your eyes, rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- If the reaction is severe, spreads or does not settle, or if you have trouble breathing or swelling of the face, get medical help immediately.
- Then contact us with your order number so we can check the batch.

What our words mean
When we describe a product as moisturising, softening, nourishing or soothing, we mean how it looks and feels on the skin as a cosmetic. We do not mean it changes the structure or function of the body. "Natural" has no legal definition for skincare in most countries. We prefer to show you every ingredient instead. "Chemical-free" is not a term we use. Everything, including water and tallow, is made of chemicals. Customer reviews are the personal opinions and experiences of individual customers, shared in their own words. They are not claims made by BARE.
Results vary
Everyone’s skin is different. Photos, descriptions and reviews show individual experiences, not guaranteed results.
How to patch test
Apply a small amount to the inside of your forearm. Leave it for 24 to 48 hours without washing the area. If you notice redness, itching, burning, swelling or a rash, do not use the product. A clear patch test lowers the chance of a reaction but cannot rule one out completely.
Handmade variation
Because every batch is made by hand, colour, scent and texture can vary slightly between batches and from product photos. This does not affect safety when the product is stored and used as described.
Responsibility
To the fullest extent allowed by law, BARE is not responsible for reactions, damage or loss caused by misuse, skipping a patch test, contamination after opening, improper storage, or using a product against the directions on its label or on this page. Nothing on this page limits any rights you have under applicable consumer protection law.
